How to get Wavy Hair without Curling - Hairstyles

When you need a sexy and carefree hairstyle, waves are the answer. No matter what your hair type – straight, curly, fine or thick – you can prep it for waves. The best part is that you don’t have to expose your tresses to damaging heat, and you don’t have to spend a lot of time making your hair look awesome. Instead you can just let people think that you did!

Small Waves-Straight Hair

1-

Comb you hair to remove tangles. Separate hair into sections, and secure with a rubber band. Carefair.com recommends six sections for maximum wave power.

2-

Braid each section and secure it with a small rubber band at the bottom.

3-

Sleep in your braids all right. Spray them lightly with hairspray and wait about 3 minutes. Take each rubber band off the end of each braid and separate the strands of your hair gently.

Small Waves-Curly Hair

1-

Shampoo, condition and comb your hair to remove tangles. Separate your hair into four sections on the sides and black of your head and secure with rubber bands or clips.

2-

Braids each section of hair tightly, and secure with a rubber band.

3-

Allow your hair to completely dry (at least 4 hours) before removing the braids. If you remove them before your hair is totally dry, your hair will curl instead of wave.

Big Waves-Straight Hair

1-

Comb dry hair to remove possible tangles and braid it into two tight braids stationed at the nape of your neck.

2-

Sleep in the braids overnight.

3-

Spray the braids with a light coating of hairspray if your hair is fine or has trouble holding a curl. Allow the spray to dry for approximately 3 minutes and remove braids carefully. Arrange waves with your fingers.

Big Waves-Curly Hair

1-

Shampoo and condition your hair. Comb it to remove tangles.

2-

Create a single, tight braid down your back, starting at the nape of your neck. Allow hair to dry thoroughly for three or 4 hours or overnight.

3-

Remove the braids. Separate the hair gently with your fingers and spray the waves lightly with hairspray to preserve them.

Tips and Tricks

1-      If you know you won’t have time to air dry wet braids, you can apply a heat styling gel to your hair before you braid it. Then, blows dry your braids to set the waves.
2-      To avoid frizzing the hair in the braids while you sleep, use a silk pillowcase.
3-      When spraying the braids with hairspray, avoid saturating them. If they become too wet, curly hair will curl, instead of wave.
